Minister Freddie J. Jones

Mr. Freddie J. Jones “Freddie Joe”, 76, of McComb, MS departed this earthly life on Tuesday May 31, 2022, at Southwest Regional Medical Center. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 11, 11:00am at Pleasant Grove East McComb Baptist Church with Rev. Hilton Harrell officiating. Mr. Jones was born on February 22, 1946, in McComb. He was the son of Mr. Alfonse Jones Sr, and Mrs. Manerva Hodges Jones. His educational studies began in McComb, at an early age he relocated to California where he graduated from high school. He had a desire to accomplish and achieve in many arears of his life. He chose Cosmetology, Interior Designing and Decorating. He was an entrepreneur in mastering both. He was one of the top graduates from the School of Cosmetology in California. He also obtained his degree in Interior Designing and Decorating while residing there. Freddie Joe became one of the best known in both arears, from the state of California to Mississippi, and Louisiana. After pursuing his career, he later relocated back to his hometown of McComb, MS. His knowledge and skills were impeccable. During Freddie’s lifetime he was known as the #1 hair stylist and decorator in McComb and Southwest area. He received numerous awards, certificates, and acknowledgements. One would say, he was the “Master of Hands” Freddie Joe had a passion for cooking, decorating, laughing, ministering, helping others in need, but he was very straight forward, spoke with authority, he said what he meant and meant what he said, not biting his togue. He loved life, people, and his cats. He was a former member of Society Hill Church. In the year of 2006, he united with Pleasant Grove East McComb Church, under the leadership of Pastor Hilton Harrell, whom he loved dearly and respected in every way. He served unwavering, committed, and dedicated to need of the ministry. He also served as the Pastor Aid Chairman for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alphonse Jones Sr, and Manerva Jones; one brother: Elbert Martin, additional family members as well. He has left to cherish many fond memories to his brother: Alphonse Jones Jr: four nieces, a special cousin and caretaker: Beverly Jackson; special pastor and friend: Pastor Hilton and wife Twilla Harrell; extended family, church family, neighbors, and friends.
