Dr. Hazel L. White

Evangelist Dr. Hazel Lee White,71, of McComb, MS departed this earthly life on February 5, 2022, at the Agape Community Hospice Facility in Lexington, SC. Visitation 9:00am until 11:00am Sunday February 13, 2022, at Peoples Undertaking Co. service to follow at 11:00am Rev. Carl Hughes Officiating burial in Greenlawn Cemetery. Evangelist Dr. Hazel Lee White was born on January 9, 1951 in McComb, MS to the late Willie White and Jessie Mae Crossley White. She departed this life on Saturday, February 5th, 2022 at the Agape Community Hospice Facility in Lexington, SC at the age of 71 years old. Growing up and through her time in McComb, she attended Walker Chapel Free Will Baptist, Summit Baptist MBC, and Pine Grove MBC. Evangelist Dr. White was the founder of Joy in the Lord Outreach Ministries where she published blogs and newsletters to spread the word of God. In addition to this, she authored 4 faith based books, “His Word is Bond: Believe and Trust on God’s Promises,” “Church Misbehaving: Addressing Sin in the Church,” “Let’s Get Real: What Part of Heaven Do You Think is Segregated,” and “Ladies, It is Time to Get Smart to Become the Very Best.” Evangelist Dr. White also held 9 degrees: a bachelors in psychology from Tougaloo College in 1972, a bachelors in science in nursing from Alcorn State University in 1989, a masters in reading from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1973, a masters in secondary education with an endorsement in guidance education from Alcorn State University in 1988, a masters in secondary education with an endorsement in educational administration and supervision from Alcorn State University in 1994, a masters in nursing from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1996, a PhD in educational psychology from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1976, a doctor of nurse practice from Grand Canyon University in 2019, and an associate in theology from Free Spirit Bible Training Center in 2005. She retired from Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA in 2008 after 35+ years of nursing, education, and counseling. After her retirement, she taught and tutored nursing online for Herzing University. To name a few of the institutions of higher learning she taught, Southeastern Lousiana University, Alcorn State University, Tougaloo College, Benedict College, and Bethune Cookman College. She was a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc since 1970. She pledged as a charter line at Tougaloo College through Lambda Beta Chapter at Jackson State University. She held various graduate chapter memberships throughout her life including Mu Zeta in Baton Rouge, LA and presently Rho Phi Zeta in McComb, MS. She was proceeded in death by her parents Deacon Willie White and Jessie Mae Crossley White of McComb, MS. She leaves to cherish her memories Two Daughters: Jessica LaBeatra Robinson of Houston, TX and Jennifer Robinson (Charles) Hathcock of Columbia, SC; Six Grandchildren: Jahlen Kareem Lee, Keri JaNae Lee, Kori Jade Lee, HazeleighJael Robinson, Hezekiah Jacoby Seeden, and Charles Jeffrey Hathcock III; Sister Barbara Ann Johnson of Houston, TX; and her best friends and closest family: Janet Crossley (aunt), Jonell Alexander (cousin), Rosalind McDowell (friend), Sandra White (friend), and Kathleen Johnson (friend), and a host of friends, family, coworkers, and students who have been blessed to have known her. She leaves behind a large body of work for the Lord. We will continue to follow the CDC guidelines, Mask and Social Distancing will be required upon entering the facility.
