Sis. Alma J. Anderson

Sis. Alma Jene Anderson, 75, of Centreville, MS departed this earthly life of Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at her residence in Centerville, MS. 10:00am-11:00am visitation Saturday, August 1, Wilkinson County High School Gymnasium; service 11:00am Internment in Centreville MB Church Cemetery. Sis. Alma Jene Anderson was born on July 14th, 1951, in Centreville, Mississippi, to the late Ruby Jean Collins and Ancil Lee Washington, Sr. Alma was adopted and reared by the late Junius and Matilda Gibson. She attended Wilkinson County High School, graduating in 1969. She was also an alumna of Alcorn State University, where she earned both a Bachelor and a Master of Science Degree in Education. She retired from the Wilkinson County School District after 40 years of dedicated service, serving as a secretary, classroom teacher, and lead teacher. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Curtis Lee Anderson for 35 years, and to this union one son, Lakendrick Demond Anderson, was born. Sis. Anderson was a faithful member of Centreville Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Jack Brown, Jr. She faithfully served as President of the Senior Choir and Director of the Youth Department. She was also active in Sunday School, Bible classes, and various church services at Centreville and St. John Baptist Church. Sis. Anderson was a mentor and role model to the women of the church, especially the wives. She was also a devoted caregiver to her dear friend, Mary Reese, and her son, Nathaniel Reese She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Lee Anderson; her son, Lakendrick Demond Anderson; her biological and adoptive parents; stepmother; grandparents; two sisters; three brothers; three brothers-in-law; and one great-grandchild. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: one daughter she raised, Kendreka Pipes; one stepson, Daniel Weathersby; one stepdaughter, Vallilery Covington; grandchildren, Brittani Anderson, LaKendra (William) Bailey-Washington, Camri Anderson, Amoni Young, Lakendra Perry, Lakendrick Perry and Karter Brown; great-grandchildren, LaKimberly, Jeremiah, Terrione, Zaniya, Kyree, KyMari, Dai, Carrieonna, Demarion, and Cyncere; a godchild who lived with her and called her “Grandma,” Ryleigh Kelly; a godson, James Lee, Jr.; sisters, Brenda (Randy) Posey, Barbara Melson, Angela Washington, and Annie Washington; brothers, Leroy Collins, Ancil Washington, Jr., and Archie Washington; sisters-in-law, Minnie Anderson, Clementine (Johnnie) Bolden, and Gracie Anderson; brother-in-law, Willie (Ruthie) Anderson; one aunt-in-law, Minnie Covington. Her adopted/extended family, including Mary Reese and sons (Ronnie and Nathaniel); Sierra and Jay Jackson and children, (Ma’Liah, Braelin, and Kehlani); Shannon and Garrick Watts and children (Kendall, Khanesha, Khan and Kaleb); Kelvin and Tina Douglas and children (Desmond, Kelvin, Jr. and Demarcus); Angela Hines and children; Nakyra Gillen; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
